“è come per le stelle, ne percepiamo meglio la luce se non le guardiamo direttamente ma se volgiamo leggermente di lato lo sguardo”
"It's like the stars, we better perceive the light if we do not look at them directly but if we look slightly on the side".
The video proposes the existence of a look beyond things, as a metaphor of subconscious life and the difficulty of highlighting situations, events or the meaning of life itself. Thus the rhythm of the radiofrequencies of a pulsar accompanies the gaze beyond the limits of the visa and the intelligible, linking the sky with the earth, the space with man, through a frequency coming from space but that strongly recalls the rhythms of drums of the tribal peoples.
Extract from the interview on the occasion of the exhibition "I see black light" about the video "The gaze":
Rachel Morellet: Regarding this work we made together, I personally wanted to introduce the text in my work. So I proposed to Raffaele a sentence that I had set out several years ago during a conversation with a young poet. He was so impressed that he decided to follow me all day and even watch over me all night. But when I woke up, he was gone and I never saw him again. I then wrote the sentence and put it in a drawer.
I pulled it out because it seemed to sum up the convergence of our work in relation to the theme of the exhibition Presence / Absence. Raffaele then developed the idea of making it into video, which we then fashioned together.
